Most of our San Diego County work is long-distance: a transfer from Orange County down the 5, or a group heading to a Carlsbad resort or Legoland. It is a drive worth doing properly, because ninety minutes in the wrong vehicle is a long ninety minutes.
South Orange County sits closer to San Diego International than to LAX, which makes SAN the sensible airport for a meaningful number of our South County clients.
The 5 corridor, and why South County looks south
The run down the 5 through Camp Pendleton is one of the more predictable long transfers in Southern California — noticeably steadier than the equivalent distance north into Los Angeles. From San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano and Dana Point, San Diego International is closer than LAX and easier to reach.
Friday afternoons southbound and Sunday afternoons northbound are the two windows to plan around. Outside those, ninety minutes from central Orange County is realistic.
Resort, family and convention work
Most of our San Diego County volume falls into three patterns: Carlsbad resort and Legoland family trips, convention delegations into the downtown waterfront, and long-distance transfers between Orange County and the city.
At ninety minutes each way, vehicle choice stops being cosmetic. For a group, an executive Sprinter or mini coach is worth the upgrade over splitting the party across SUVs.
